In the last three meets, the 7th grade boys team has captured two team championships and one team runner-up trophy.
The OMS 7th grade boys squad was named the top boys team at the Okmulgee Junior High Invitational last Friday at historic Harmon Field and also captured the team championship Wednesday at the Kellyville Junior High Invitational. The team runner-up trophy came one day prior - Tuesday - at the Catoosa Junior High Invitational.
Results from the Kellyville meet were not available at presstime.
At the Okmulgee Junior High Invitational, the Okmulgee 7th grade boys team finished with a team total of 150 points and finished with 92.5 team points Tuesday at Catoosa.
At Okmulgee last Friday, the 7th grade Bullpups took home gold medals in the 400 meter relay, 800 meter relay, 1600 meter relay, 200 meter dash, and 400 meter dash and took home silver medals in the 100 meter dash, 200 meter dash, 1600 meter relay, Discus, and Shot Put. The Bullpups had one thirdplace finish at the home meet - the 200 meter dash - and were fourth in the 800 meter relay, Discus, and Shot Put.
The OMS 7th grade boys team also had two other members compete in the 100 meter dash (18th and 24th), four members compete in the 400 meter dash (11th, 12th, 15th, and 16th), and four members compete in the 200 meter dash (17th, 23rd, 26th, and 29th).
At Catoosa on Tuesday, the 7th grade boys team came away with gold medals in the 800 meter relay, 400 meter dash, and 1600 meter relay, runner-up finishes in the 400 meter relay and 200 meter dash, a third-place finish in the 300 meter hurdles, fourth-place finishes in the 100 meter dash and Shot Put, fifthplace finishes in the 400 meter relay, 100 meter dash, and 200 meter dash, and a sixth-place finish in the Discus.
The Bullpups also had two other team members compete in the 100 meter dash (9th and 26th), three team members compete in the 400 meter dash (16th, 17th, and 23rd), two team members compete in the 200 meter dash (19th and NS - Scratched), one team member compete in the Discus (7th), and one team member compete in the Shot Put (8th).
The OMS 8th grade boys team had a third-place finisher in the Shot Put and a sixth-place finisher in the Discus at the Okmulgee meet and also had members compete in the 400 meter relay event.
At Catoosa, the 8th grade Bullpups had three team members compete in the 400 meter dash (12th, 17th, and NS - Scratched) and had one team member compete in both the Discus (14th) and Shot Put (16th).
At the Okmulgee meet, the OMS 7th grade girls squad finished seventh overall with nine team points. The Lady Bullpups’ team points at the home meet came in the 400 meter dash (2nd) and the 200 meter dash (6th). The OMS ladies also had another team member compete in both the 400 meter dash (13th) and 200 meter dash (10th) at the home meet last Friday.
The 8th grade girls track team had two team members compete in the 100 meter dash (8th and 16th) and 400 meter dash (10th and 13th) and one team member compete in the 200 meter dash (10th) at the Okmulgee Invitational.
At Catoosa, the 7th grade Lady Bullpups finished ninth overall with 14 team points, earning points in the 400 meter dash (3rd) and 300 meter hurdles (2nd). The 7th grade girls squad also had a team member compete in the 400 meter dash (11th) and two team members compete in the 200 meter dash (11th and 18th).
The 8th grade girls track team had one team member compete at Catoosa, finishing 14th in the 400 meter dash.
The OMS track and field teams are scheduled to return to action Tuesday at Atoka.
