Henryetta tennis shines at 4A Classic

The Henryetta varsity tennis program came away with a good showing last Thursday at the 4A Classic tournament at the Oklahoma City Tennis Center.

The Henryetta varsity tennis program came away with a good showing last Thursday at the 4A Classic tournament at the Oklahoma City Tennis Center.

The Lady Knights finished tie for third with Beaver with a team total of 22 points, while the Knights were runner-up to Elk City with 27 team points.

The top individual finisher for the Lady Knights was Andrea Wade, who captured the individual championship in No. 2 Singles, winning all three matches in straight sets.

Kellyn Lollis was runner-up in No. 1 Singles, falling to Byng’s Syd Looper in straight sets in the championship match.

The duo of Brooke Nash and Katie Davis finished third at the tournament last Thursday, rebounding from their semifinal loss to Byng to defeat Beaver and Tecumseh in back-to-back matches to finish with bronze medals. Nash and Davis needed a third-set super tiebreaker to get past their opponents from Tecumseh in the third-place match.

For the Knights, the Henryetta gentlemen captured gold in both Doubles divisions, as well as No. 1 Singles. Ayden Andrews took home the individual gold medal in No. 1 Singles, defeating Evan Senger of Elk City in a 3-set battle in the finals.

The duos of Jordan Osterdock and John Ritter in No. 1 Doubles and Josh Osterdock and Sheldon Andrews in No. 2 Doubles through their competition with each winning their semifinal and final matches in straight sets. Both Doubles teams knocked off Byng to capture their tournament championships. Ethan Lovell was slated to compete for the Knights in No. 2 Doubles action, but had to withdraw from the tournament prior to his first-round match due to an illness. Semifinals: defeated Amanda Batchelor (Elk City); 7-6 (7-5), 6-3

First Round: defeated Lack/Whitney (Tecumseh); 6-4, 2-6, 10-4

Semifinals: lost to Colombe/Miller (Byng); 6-0, 6-1 Play-In Match: defeated Facio/Rigdon (Beaver); 6-0, 6-1

Third Place: defeated Lack/Whitney (Tecumseh); 6-4, 2-6, 10-8

Boys Division

No. 1 Singles - Ayden Andrews (Champion)

First Round: defeated Andrew Cruz (Byng); 6-0, 6-0

Semifinals: defeated Nate Jones (Clinton); 6-2, 6-1

Finals: defeated Evan Senger (Elk City); 6-2, 2-6, 11-9

No. 2 Singles - Ethan Lovell

First Round: lost to Jaxon Kuhn (Tecumseh); injury default

No. 1 Doubles - Jordan Osterdock and John Ritter (Champion)

First Round: received bye

Semifinals: defeated Hamilton/Medina (Pauls Valley); 6-1, 6-0

Finals: defeated Hernandez/Gilmore (Byng); 6-1, 6-0
