The Dewar Dragon varsity baseball team is currently competing at the Wright City Festival.

The Dewar Dragon varsity baseball team is currently competing at the Wright City Festival.

The Dragons, who sit at 7-2 on the year, were scheduled to take on the Cushing Tigers on Thursday and are slated to battle the Allen Mustangs and Asher Indians today.

After the Wright City Festival, the Dewar diamond squad will host Depew on Monday before traveling to Stonewall on Tuesday.

The Dragons began the season March 1 with an 11-4 win at home against Morris. After the season-opening win, the Dewar diamond squad notched wins over Wilson (20-0) on March 2 and Allen (20-2) on March 4 before suffering their first defeat of the campaign - a 5-4 setback to the Gore Pirates on March 6 at Wiley Ryal Park in Dewar.

The Dragons rebounded from their first loss of the season with shutout wins over Davenport (11-0) on March 6 and Wetumka (12-0) on March 8 and a rout of Strother (24-1) on March 9 to improve to 6-1 on the year.

On March 11, the Dewar squad dropped a 9-7 decision to the Roff Tigers, then earned their seventh win of 2021 the following day, defeating the Valliant Bulldogs by a 9-1 margin.

Against Wilson, the Dragons totaled 15 hits in the contest, led by Baylor Selby (3 for 3, single, 2 home runs, 5 RBI) and Thomas Brownfield (3 for 3, single, 2 doubles, RBI) with three hits apiece.

Other Dewar batters with multi-hit games against the Tigers were Tyler Maldonado (2 for 3, single, home run, 5 RBI), Shawn Maxwell (2 for 3, double, home run, 3 RBI), Joey Fowler (2 for 4, single, double, RBI) with two hits each.

The final three hits for the Dragons in the county meeting came on singles by Tryton Mack, Micah Cloud, and Brett Hays.

Garrett Loyd did not have an official at-bat in the contest, reaching base on walks in all three of his plate appearances

Ȧgainst Allen, the Dewar diamond squad finished wth 11 hits in the contest, led by Joey Fowler (3 for 3, single, 2 doubles, 2 RBI) and Brett Hays (3 for 3, 2 singles, double, 4 RBI) with three hits each.

Shawn Maxwell (2 for 2, double, triple, 4 RBI) and Thomas Brownfield (2 for 2, single, double) also recorded multi-hit games for Dewar in the lopsided win with two hits apiece.

The final base hit for the Dragons against Allen came on a single by Tyler Maldonado.

Against Gore, the top hitter for Dewar was Shawn Maxwell, who went 2 for 4 with a pair of singles and an RBI.

The other two base hits for the Dragons in the contest came on a single by Brett Hays and a double by Thomas Brownfield.

Against Davenport, the Dragons tallied five hits in the contest, led by Joey Fowler, who went 2 for 3 with a pair of singles.

The other three Dewar hits against Davenport came on singles by Garrett Loyd and Jaden Maxwell and a solo home run by Baylor Selby.

Against Wetumka, the Dragons finished with six hits, led by Micah Cloud, who went 2 for 2 with a double, home run, and 6 RBIs.

The other four hits against the Chieftains came on a double by Thomas Brownfield, a triple by Joey Fowler, and home runs by Shawn Maxwell and Brett Hays.

Against Strother, the Dragons tallied 12 hits in the lopsided victory. Brett Hays led the offensive production for Dewar, going 3 for 3 with a pair of singles, a double, and 3 RBIs.

The quartet of Shawn Maxwell (2 for 3, single, double, 3 RBI), Micah Cloud (2 for 3, single, double), Baylor Selby (2 for 2, single, home run, 4 RBI), and Jaden Maxwell (2 for 3, 2 singles, 2 RBI) also recorded a multi-hit game for the Dewar offense with two hits apiece.

Joey Fowler accounted for the final base hit for the Dragons against Strother with a double.

Against Roff, the Dewar offense totaled 11 hits in the contest, led by Joey Fowler, who went 3 for 4 with three singles and an RBI.

Other Dragon batters with multi-hit games in the loss were Thomas Brownfield (2 for 4, 2 singles) and Brett Hays (2 for 4, 2 singles, 2 RBI) with two hits each.

The final for Dewar hits against Roff came on singles by Garrett Loyd, Tyler Maldonado, and Baylor Selby and a home run by Micah Cloud.

Against Valliant, the Dragons totaled 10 hits in the win, led by the trio of Shawn Maxwell (2 for 2, 2 singles), Joey Fowler (2 for 2, 2 singles, RBI), and Micah Cloud (2 for 2, 2 home runs, 2 RBI) with two hits apiece.

The other four hits for Dewar against Valliant came on singles by Garrett Loyd, Tyler Maldonado, Baylor Selby, and Thomas Brownfield
