There were two bids submitted, however the price for the service was significantly different. After looking at the submissions, Okmulgee County Emergency Management Director Tim Craighton recommended the one from Meshek and Associates be accepted, since it complied with the specifications required.
There was a brief presentation by Edward Jones Investment representative James Allred to the county about considering new employee benefits available with retirement plans.
“What I am seeking is to basically benchmark your current retirement plan,” Allred said. The company is just seeking basic information and then will look at enhancing the county’s retirement plan.
“We can come back later with the information we have found, and if at all possible, get a better product and cheaper price,” he said.
Agenda items approved were:
• Minutes of the Feb. 16 meeting.
• Officers’ Reports - Okmulgee County Court Clerk’s Office for the month of February for $21,097.18.
• Blanket Purchase Order - District 2 to Autozone for parts and supplies as needed for $250; District 1 to Unifirst Holdings for uniforms as needed for $800; Emergency Management to ComData for fuel as needed, $500.
• Employee Acknowledgement Forms - Tyler Stroup, Sheriff ’s Office, full-time.
There were no Utility Permits or Private Property Agreements to consider.
OCEM Director Craighton reported seven water buffalos in the county for drinking water, three for nonpotable water and a half semi load of bottled water distributed in the county for residents.
During Input from the public, Kay Rabbitt-Brower thanked Commissioner David Walker on the great job of taking care of the highway on the way to the lake.
Court Newkirk thanked the district also for the assistance near Custom Logistics in taking care of the roadway to enable trucks to enter and leave the company’s location.
