A celebration of Indigenous Peoples Day will be held on the square in downtown Okmulgee on Monday, Oct. 12.
The event will be held from 12-4 p.m.
Brenda Golden is coordinating the event and has sent out a call to all persons, groups, clubs and families to come downtown and help celebrate by speaking, talking, performing and singing.
Included in the afternoon events will be an acknowledgement of Indigenous Lands, Recounting Mvskoke History and Relocation, Proclamation Recognizing Indigenous Peoples Day in Okmulgee, Mvskoke Hymns and Songs, and Recognition of Mvskoke Veterans.
