Mercedes Cosby was dialed in at the plate on Tuesday, tallying four hits to lead the Lady Bulldogs to an 18-3 win over Wilson.
Cosby singled in the second, singled in the fourth, doubled in the fifth, and singled in the sixth.
Okmulgee earned the victory despite allowing Wilson to score three runs in the fifth inning.
Wilson’s big inning was driven by singles by Shanks and Korra Blackbear.
In the first inning, the Lady Bulldogs got their offense started when Jade Whinery singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run.
Okmulgee tallied eight runs in the sixth inning. Their offense in the inning was led by Maddie Colpitt, Bailey McElroy, Morgan Goddard, Whinery, Cosby, and Mariya Tecumseh, all driving in runs in the inning.
McElroy earned the victory for Okmulgee; she allowed six hits and three runs over six innings, striking out eight and walking zero.
Scout Hawkins pitched six innings for Wilson and allowed 18 runs on 26 hits and striking out five.
Okmulgee tallied 26 hits in the game. Colpitt, Natori Yates, Cosby, Tecumseh, Gabbi Garcia, Goddard, Whinery, and Tori James all managed multiple hits for Okmulgee. Cosby, Yates, and Colpitt each collected four hits.
Tot Harris led the Lady Bulldogs with three stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with 13 stolen bases.
Shanks led Wilson with two hits in three at bats. Blackbear, Shanks and Pinkson scored Wilson’s three runs.
Okmulgee is going to have a busy week as Bi-Districts are next weekend.
They have to play Kiefer and Henryetta once and Spiro and Morris twice.
They are currently ranked last in the district, but they are right behind Spiro and Morris, who only have one district win each, so there is still room to improve their ranking.
