American young adult author, Ann Brashares was born July 30, 1967 in Alexandria, Virginia and grew up in Maryland with her three brothers.
Elementary through high school Ann attended a Quaker School in Washington, D. C. She then studied Philosophy at Barnard College, part of Columbia University in New York City and became editor of 17th Street Productions.
Ann loved her job and never went back to graduate school like she planned to.
She met her husband, Jacob Collins while she was a freshman at Barnard and he was a Junior at Columbia.
One of her professors was Jacob’s father. When Jacob and Ann met in the library, he drew her portrait.
Jacob runs a painting school and some of his recent paintings have sold for $125,000.
Ann, Jacob and their four children live in New York City.
Her first book, “The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants,” was published in 2001, followed by three more books in a series.
She then wrote some adult novels and other books but remains best known for her Sisterhood series.
We have three of her (YAF) books, one (F) and one (LPF).
Take care and be safe!
