Hey everyone! So, just like Mother’s Day, the month of June we celebrated our fathers and all they do for us and our family.
Hey everyone! So, just like Mother’s Day, the month of June we celebrated our fathers and all they do for us and our family.
Again, I’ve interviewed a few friends to talk about all that their dad has done for them.
These stories that I have an opportunity to write are by far my favorite. It gives us kids a chance to say ‘thank you’ for everything that our parents have provided for us.
So let’s get on with the story.
The first person I interviewed was Joey Watson.
Joey graduated this year from Henryetta and is heavily involved in the FFA.
I asked him if he wanted to do the interview and he did not hesitate at all. He said, “My dad has done so much for me. He taught me about fishing and hunting. He is always helping me do or figure something out. I wouldn’t be the man I am today if it wasn’t for him and all he’s done for me.”
The next person I interviewed was James Martin.
James is a junior this year and is also extremely involved in FFA.
I wanted to know if he had anything he’d like to include in this story, he said, “My dad has always been one of my biggest supporters and has always been my hero since I was little. I know that I want to become at least half the man that he is.
“My father has always helped me and is always giving the best advice whether it's about the show ring or the football field, he always has my back. Not only is he encouraging, but he is also the first person to tell me when I’m wrong and tells me how to fix it. We all need to be very thankful for our fathers and what they do for us.”
And last, but not least, I wanted to say a few thing about my father.
My dad is a lifelong sprint car racing fan. His parents took him when he was a little boy to his first race and he has been going ever since.
Even my mom’s family went to the races every week.
So with all that, my parents took me to my first race at the Tulsa Speedway when I was just two months old and my sister's first was the Indianapolis 500 when she was three months old.
I remember looking forward to going every year with my dad and grandpa for a week's worth of racing.
As I got older, I realized that it wasn’t about the racing, but spending time with them making lasting memories.
My grandfathers are two of the best role models you could ask for.
They continue to show us what hard work is and where it gets you. Whether it be helping us build a garage or painting the house, they are always just a call away to come help.
From all the ag kids, thank you to all the fathers in FFA who have given us advice and are always there to support us in everything we do. We wouldn’t be where we are today without your understanding and support.
Thank you Dad!
