Henryetta senior Bailee Worlow was selected for the 2020 Class 3A All-State Track team. Despite a short season, Worlow not only had strong appearance at the Glenpool Invitational Track Meet earlier in March, but had the PRs throughout her high school career that made her a standout on the Henryetta High School track team.
Worlow focused a lot of her time on the longer runs, including the 400 meter dash, and the 800 meter run, but also proved her speed in the 200 meter dash. At the Glenpool meet, she took 1st in the 400 with a time of 1 minute, 2.26 seconds to defeat Coweta High School. Worlow outpaced Lilyan Winter, of Coweta, by more 0.50 seconds for her last gold medal.
Worlow also placed 4th in the 800 meter run. Clocking in at 2:37.52 minutes, she barley came in behind Bixby HIgh School’s Cayden Dawson who ran a time of 2:32.34.
Similar to other runners across the state, Worlow wasn’t able to finish her high school career at the OSSAA State Tournament. COVID-19 canceled the rest of the 2020 track season, leaving Worlow with no chance of defending her previous appearances at State.
In 2019, Worlow had the 6th best 400 meter time in the whole state. She made it to the Class 3A State Tournament at Catoosa the previous spring where she qualified in two event - the 400 and 200 meter dash. In the 400, Worlow placed 5th with a time of 1:02.17 and barley missed out on defeating Jones junior Jaylie Farmer by 0.15 seconds. Worlow also placed 8th in the 200 meter dash with a finals time of 26.75 seconds, competing against a 3.2 mph wind. Okmulgee sophomore Brianna Harris barely crossed the finish line for 7th, clocking in at 26.741 to defeat Worlow by 0.002 seconds.
However, this wasn’t Worlow’s first time at the OSSAA State Meet. She also competed against runners from around the state in 2018. Competing in the 800 and 400 meter run, Worlow finished her freshman year with the Knight with a bang. Despite her freshman status, Worlow kept up with more experienced runners and placed 12th in the 400 meter dash preliminary rounds. She crossed the finish line at 1:03.97, defeating sophomores from Dickson High School and Metro Christian and a junior from Riverside. In the 800 meter run, Worlow placed 15th with a time of 2:38.37.
When spring track season completed, Worlow wasn’t quick to leave the track behind. In the summer time, Worlow ran with a county competitive league - the Okmulgee Roadrunners. She made it to the US-ATF National Junior Olympic Championships in 2019. Worlow worked with Okmulgee runners Faith Montgomery, Brianna and Morgan Harris as a part of a 4x100 relay team. Blasting past opponents at the USATF Oklahoma Association Junior Olympic Championships, Worlow and her teammates earned the chance to compete on the national level where they placed 22nd with a time of 53.22.
Worlow committed to run track and field at Northwestern Oklahoma State this coming fall. The former Lady Knight will be adopting the red and black of the Rangers and will be working under Rangers Head Women’s Track and Field Coach Jill Lancaster.
