AARP Foundation Tax-Aide, the nation’s largest free volunteer-run tax assistance and preparation program, is in need of volunteers for the upcoming season.
Today, over 35,000 volunteers across all 50 states as well as the District of Columbia serve approximately 4,800 tax-aide sites from Feb. 1 through mid-April.
Tax-Aide volunteers are trained and IRS-certified each year to ensure they know about and understand the latest changes and additions to the U.S. Tax Code.
Assistance is offered to those who need it most. There is no need to be an AARP member to receive assistance.
Tax-Aide’s purpose is tax preparation for anyone, but particularly to those age 50 and older.
“We offer peace of mind at tax time, especially for low and moderate income taxpayers,” Tax Aide officials said.
AARP offers community-based in-person tax preparation assistance in local neighborhoods.
The services are free with no fees or sales pitch for additional services.
“We are looking for compassionate and friendly individuals to join our volunteer team,” AARP Foundation members said. “We’ll provide the training and support to help you learn new skills and you’ll get a great feeling from helping someone else.”
