I have decided I will take up writing again.
My thoughts are to keep a journal about my days here at the retirement village.
Journaling is something I already do – daily. Hopefully, too – this is a way to give my thoughts on the often avoided topic of aging – the highs and lows – yet living life to the fullest no matter our age.
Admittedly, some days here can be a bit challenging – there being so many personalities up and down these halls!
Hopefully journaling will help me see the lighter side – for instance – doing high-fives when we finally find that elusive piece of that puzzle!
Who knew it had fallen off the table and was caught there in her oversized house shoe?
Working puzzles together is an enjoyable pastime for many of us. And – we are hopeful it will keep some of the rust away from our aging brains.
Casually we gather – bringing our cup of tea or whatever – as well as maybe cookies or the last of a cake or even candy, to share.
One dear lady makes a really good banana nut bread – no less starting with yellow cake mix. She actually uses her cook stove – while most of us just give ours a good dusting occasionally.
We often help each other talk.
If the word or name we are searching for eludes us – one nearby comes to the rescue! What a relief that is!
Unashamedly – we all agree – we need all the help we can get and then some!
One of the advantages of living here is having your own apartment with a door and a good working dead-bolt!
Occasionally when you have had your fill of these “dear old souls” – you can escape to your own place and “rock and stare” a while and think – or just “rock and stare.”
