The Knights were unable to get their offense moving in the first half against Meeker, leaving them struggling against an early Bulldog lead. Fumbles and penalties in the second quarter helped Meeker extend their lead into a 53-8 victory over the Knights.
Dominating the field in the first quarter, the Bulldogs didn’t allow the Knights much room to score. The Bulldogs first wore down the Knights’ defense with two rushing touchdowns. Meeker running backs Jacob Martin and Caden Wolford were at the top of their team's rushing offense. Martin was the first to break through for a 21-yard run, while Wolford found a gap for an 85-yard touchdown run. However, failed field goals only put the Bulldogs ahead 12-0.
The Knights’ offense was still trying to get off the ground but were unable to find success in the first quarter.
Meeker quarterback Jacob Martin and wide receiver Zach Cook extended the Bulldogs’ lead with a 40-yard and 8-yard touchdown pass. With their opponents finding success on the ground and in the air, the Knights fell behind 33-0 in the first quarter with Wolford ending it with a 10-yard touchdown run for the Bulldogs.
An intercepted pass at the start of the second quarter left the Knights with little momentum to find the end zone. Garnering a 25-yard interception return, the Bulldogs posted up for a 40-0 advantage over the Knights. Dakota Gabbert, who led the interception return, earned another touchdown for the Bulldogs, going on a 39-yard punt return. Wolford completed his second field goal kick of the night to put the Bulldogs ahead 47-0 at the end of the half.
The Knights made a small comeback in the second half defensively. A safety during the third quarter broke Henryetta’s scoring rut, putting two points on the scoreboard, 47-2. Able to push the Bulldogs into their own end zone, the Knights also didn’t allow Meeker to gain much yardage and didn’t let any touchdowns past them.
Knight senior running back Kameron Sisson garnered the first touchdown of the night for Henryetta. Leading a 53-yard touchdown run, Sisson put the Knights behind the Bulldogs 53-8. The Bulldogs were able to complete a 49-yard touchdown before Sisson’s run to gain a 45-point lead that they were able to cement into a victory.
Despite the 53-8 loss, the Knights led an impressive season campaign, improving from last season’s overall record. Their win/loss record went up from last year’s 1-9 record with the Kngihts earning three wins against Warner, Holdenville and Kellyville.
