The Dragons tackled their third conference game last Friday, traveling to face the Gans Grizzlies in Week 8. Adding another win to their already impressive winning streak, the Dragons took down the Grizzlies, who are No. 4 in their district, in a 74-28 battle. Not only have they been undefeated in districts, but the Dragons have garnered an 8-0 season record.
Starting the game with an early lead, the Dragons dominated the field against the Grizzlies, earning a 24-0 advantage. Depending on their rushing game, the Dragons ran in two touchdowns and also completed a touchdown reception.
The Dragons’ special team helped put them ahead even more, gaining 6 extra points with three two-point conversions.
Earning a 24-0 lead in the first quarter, the Dragons kept the momentum going in the second quarter with a passing touchdown. However, the Gans Grizzlies broke through a scoring hiatus. The Grizzlies were able to rush the ball into the end zone for their first touchdown of the night, contesting the Dragons’ lead 32-8.
But the Dragons ensured they stayed in power with their fourth rushing touchdown of the night, ending the first half with a 40-8 lead.
Posting up in the second half, the Dragons’ first half advantage kept them in power, while the Grizzlies bounced back to match the Dragons. Despite matching the Dragons’ 14-point third quarter, the Grizzlies couldn’t overturn the Dragons’ impenetrable 54-22 lead.
Though their opponents were able to make a small comeback in the third quarter, the Dragons’ defense pulled out all the stops in the fourth quarter, allowing the Grizzlies just one touchdown. While the Dragons’ defense stunted the Grizzlies’ offensive growth, the Dragons stomped past the Grizzlies’ defense for a 20-point boost.
Finding success on the ground, the Dragons obtained their eighth consecutive win, defeating the Grizzlies in a 46-point victory, 74-28.
The Dragons are scheduled to take on No. 2 Keota at home this Friday, Nov. 1. Keota is currently undefeated in districts (3-0) and has a season record of 7-1.
