The Okmulgee Runners are banding together with the Okmulgee Chamber of Commerce to host the first ever Can Jam 5K and 10K Run this coming November to benefit the Okmulgee County Homeless Shelter. There is no registration needed to participate in the event, which is set to take place Saturday, Nov. 9 with registration at 7:30 a.m. Instead, runners are encouraged to bring canned food items that will be donated after the race to the Okmulgee Homeless Shelter.
Currently, race organizers are looking for volunteers to help the day of the event. Those interested in helping set up and tear down the event can contact Michael Riveria at 918-304-0242. Volunteers are needed to direct runners, pass out water and help with the general set up and clean up of the Can Jam Run.
