Deep Fork Community Action Foundation, Inc. (DFCAF) is holding an election for a Low-Income Representative for Okmulgee County.
The election will be held on Thursday, Oct. 17 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Okmulgee Senior Nutrition Center located at 1021 North Seminole Avenue.
Low-income representatives need not be low-income themselves; however, they must be elected by low-income people of the area in which they reside.
DFCAF applies for and administers federal and state grants as well as private sources to help continue their mission: "To improve the quality of life for those in need and strengthen communities by providing an opportunity for growth in the future."
Deep Fork provides assistance in Okmulgee, Hughes, Mcintosh and Okfuskee counties for the majority of its programs and covers other counties for some of its programs.
Volunteers that serve on the board assist Deep Fork in "helping people and changing lives."
The election is open to the public of Okmulgee County and all low-income residents are encouraged to attend and elect a Low-Income Representative to the Deep Fork Community Action Board of Directors.
Persons interested in running, who would like to nominate a candidate, or would like more information, please contact Christie Baldridge at 918-756-2826 before 2 p.m. on Oct. 15.
