Only able to get one hit off of Kellyville Lady Ponies pitcher Kayla Richardson, the Preston Lady Pirates (14-15) fell in an 11-0 loss Tuesday on the road.

Richardson induced several groundouts throughout the game that left the Lady Pirates struggling offensively. Lady Pirate catcher Dakaree Hanson had one solid at bat, gaining a double in the second inning, but it wasn’t enough to match the hitting power of the Lady Ponies. Kellyville ended the game in just four innings, going on an eight-run burst in the third inning to cap off their lead at 11-0.

The Lady Pirates earned three straight outs in the top of the first inning, handing over a clean scoreboard to the Lady Ponies. A walk was the tipping point that allowed the Lady Ponies to score their first run, but the Lady Pirates’ infield quickly shut them down with two groundouts.

Down 1-0, the Lady Pirates broke out of their groundout routine in the top of the second inning. Hanson leveled one out to center-field for an extra base hit. Despite getting a runner on, the Lady Pirates faced a swift end to the inning with a strikeout and flyout to centerfield.

Two walks in the bottom half put the Lady Pirates further behind the Lady Ponies. Runners were provided free bases while one catching error sent in two Kellyville players, increasing the Lady Ponies’ advantage to 3-0.

Another quick inning for the Lady Pirates left them with no runs in the top of the third inning, which left them vulnerable to another Lady Ponies barrage. Having just made contact with one hit, the Lady Pirates succumbed to a tough loss in the bottom half.

The Lady Ponies kicked off an eight-run scoring streak with a series of errors and a base hit. Catching errors got the Lady Ponies first runner to second when a base hit put them in scoring position. The Lady Pirates had four catching errors in the bottom of the third inning, allowing the Lady Ponies to double their lead. An RBI single and two Kellyville runners stealing to home established an incredible 11-0 lead for the Lady Ponies.

The Lady Pirates had one more shot in the top of the fourth inning. Preston centerfielder Rylee Pinkston reached first on a catching error out at centerfield. A passed ball put Pinkston on second base, while a groundout gave her opportunity to reach third. But a lineout left her on base, leaving the Lady Pirates trailing behind 11-0.
