The Morris Eagles are in a rebound period after suffering a 75-32 loss in Week 4 to the Beggs Demons, marking their first defeat of the 2019 season. Set to travel to meet the Victory Christian Conquerors on the field Friday, Oct. 5, the Eagles will have their shot to regain their momentum. The Conquerors have had a rough start to the season with a 32-20 loss to McClain. Their only win of the season came down to a 34-7 beatdown of the Tulsa Rogers Ropers, but they soon fell into another two-game losing streak – Verdigris (72-32) and Dewey (26-12). With only one win to date, the Conquerors might be an easy target for the Eagles if they play their cards right. On a high performing day, the Conquerors average around a total offensive of 198 yards, which pales in comparison to Morris’ recent passing and rushing yardage. To match the Beggs’ high powered offense, the Eagles passed for 415 yards in the air and earned another 120 rushing yards. At their lowest point in the season, Victory Christian only earned a total 103 yards in their recent win against Tulsa Rogers. The Conquerors opened the game with a 30-yard punt return and a two-point conversion. They kept the momentum up in the first half with four passing touchdowns, earning a 34-7 win over the Ropers. Where the Conquerors have had a turbulent journey, the Eagles took flight in Week 0 of the 2019 season. An impeccable passing game has garnered the Eagles a three-game winning streak. In their Friday game against Beggs, the Eagles mainly found success in the air with quarterbacks Kolby Adams and Keegan Burgess gaining a total of five touchdowns. Eagle wide receiver Devin Warren was on the receiving end of each of those touchdowns. But it was a rushing touchdown from running back Jerry Ramos, who broke through the Demons defense in the second quarter to get the Eagles on the scoreboard. Ramos will need to perform to perfection on both sides of the ball Friday. As the Eagles top linebacker, Ramos will need to lockdown the Conquerors’ offense.
