St. Michael Catholic Church
25th Sunday in Ordinary Time (Amos. 8: 4-7/1 Tim. 2: 1-8/Lk. 16: 1-13) The topic I want to share with you this Sunday is “The Social Justice.” There is no doubt but that the so-called “good life” (money, comfort, success, pleasure…) exercises an enormous pull on us all. We want to serve God, but we do not want our service of him to interfere with our habits, our impulses, our way of life. Life indeed is very complicated, because we are human beings combined between flesh and spirit. We are limited. But God is everything on earth and in heaven. He created each of us. No one can create us. So we need the Holy Spirit guiding us on our journey of our life, and see what is God’s way and what is human’s way. This first reading was picked from the prophetAmos. He was a great champion of social justice. In this short reading he depicts the “religious” employers waiting impatiently for the Sabbath to end so that they can get on with their lucrative but dishonest trading! Luke’s gospel tells us the parable of the astute steward who used his ill-gotten money to gain admittance into people’s homes. Money, properties, wealth, talents, skill…are nothing wrong. They are neutral. It is depending on us how to use them as good ways or bad purposes. Jesus is not an economist or merchant. He is God who teaches all mankind how to enjoy this life fairly and with good conscience. Life is good because God created us and gives us talents, skill, money…but this life is not the final destination. Believe or not, God is our final goal as we have learned it well. For we all surely must die one day. So try to be good stewards to take care of everything we have or we are. Why did the steward in the Gospel today lose his job? Because he was “wasting his master’s goods.” He is cheating his master goods. He is not honest! Every one of us is a steward. Every one of us is in charge of goods, talents, even people. All of these things and persons belong to God. As human beings we have many times to waste our talents, money, food, and all goods…God has given us. How about waste of money, for drugs, gambling, cosmetics and many different ways. One of the most urgent needs of today is to remove the partition between religion and the rest of life. Too often we confine our religion to church. As one teenager put it: “You go to Mass without thinking and afterwards do as you like.” But it does not have to be like this. We need to do better for we cannot live on earth for good. So who is the eternal boss? God or us? Sunday Religious Class for Children: 10 a.m. Sunday Mass: 11 a.m. Welcome all of you.

First Christian Church is located at 412 N. 5th. SORROW NO MORE by Mary Morris For the kind of sorrow God wants us to experience leads us away from sin and results in salvation. There’s no regret for that kind of sorrow. But worldly sorrow, which lacks repentance, results in spiritual death. (2 Corinthians 7:10) We all feel sorrow at some time or another during our life. It's just part of the complete package. But how we deal with it, whether we allow it to rule over us -- these are part of our spiritual health. Regrets? Sure, we all have them. But toting those around with us can get tiresome and overbearing. Looking back to say "if only" is a waste of time. There is not a single thing that we can ever change about the past. Nothing. At all. Wishing we had done differently won't make it so. All that tends to do is cause frown lines and tears. The world around us wants to say, "I remember you when." But are you really still that person? Have you let experience teach you? Are you still growing, changing, emerging little by little each day from that cocoon of sin? Then what good is it to feel sorrow? It's cleansing, it's educational, and it's useful for now and any plan for the future. After all, repentance is being sorry that we've done wrong. But if we don't learn from past mistakes, we're doomed to repeat them endlessly. How fruitless is that!?! Which means that, instead of trying to make up for the past, let's strive for a better future. Let the past stay in the past and live for a better life tomorrow. It's what Jesus died for. Let His life, death, and resurrection stand for joy. Sorrow no more!

New Life Apostolic Church
Sin separates man from fellowship with God. Since Genesis 3:6 Documented Sin No. l when man rebelled against God in the Garden of Eden, sin still separates man from his maker. Sin is no small matter; the price of sin is indeed expensive. Sin cost man his dominion over the earth, selling his rights to Satan, and sin destroyed the perfect relationship man enjoyed with God in paradise. Salvation means deliverance from sin. Repentance is the starting place for this shackle-busting provision of mercy created through God's love for mankind. However, man has no option or freedom to choose the road back to fellowship with God. How can an unholy people be reconciled to a Holy God? Always by some means of sacrifice, which is giving up something of value for something even more valuable. Repentance is not repeatedly confessing sinful acts done over and over again; repentance is Godly sorrow for sins committed, forsaking the sin committed, and Not Doing It Anymore. Repentance is the first step to salvation. No repentance, No salvation. May God bless you. Pastor Anna Lewis New Life Apostolic Church 201 East 5th Street Suite D Okmulgee, Ok 918-993-9926
