Henryetta High School’s cross country team ramped up their season with the Lady Knights competing in two mile races and boys in three mile races. Traveling to Kiefer High School, the cross country team raced against 10 other high school teams and were able to secure 7th for the girls’ team and 5th for the boys’ team. Kiefer awarded medals to runners who placed in the top 20.

Austin Green led the team in the boy’s two mile team, earning 15th place with a time of 18 minutes and 33.78 seconds. He averaged a mile time of 3:42.75 and was barely beat out for 14th place by Warner High School’s Gaige Maher who clocked in at 18:24.97.

Teammate Keaton Lollis was right behind him on the course. Lollis came in at 18:33.78 for 16th place. He averaged a mile time of 3:42.75.

The girls had a harder time of breaking through to the top 20. Alyssa Collett was the closest Lady Knight runner, coming in at 14:59.71 in the two mile run for 22nd place. She averaged a mile time of 7:29.85 and was defeated by Kaitlyn Elkins from Warner High School. Elkins took 21st with a time of 14:59.44, defeating Collett by a mere 0.27 seconds. Collett’s mile time took a hit from the previous Okemah meet the cross country team attended. At the 6th Annual Okemah Cross Country Meet, Collett took 18th in the girl’s one mile with a time of 7:16.31, showing an increase of 13.54 seconds.

Green also did well at the Okemah meet, competing in the boy’s two mile run. He took 8th place with a time of 11:10.44, while Lollis was 30 seconds behind him at 11:43.
