Henryetta Police Department (HPD) responded to a 911 call Wednesday regarding a deceased person in the 700 block of West Division at 9:30 a.m. on July 9.
Upon arrival, police officers located several bullet holes in the home and found Edwin Dominic Reid had been shot and was deceased.
At that point, officers became aware a crime had occurred and chose to activate the District 25 Violent Crimes Task Force, which brought around a dozen area investigators to the scene.
“For small departments like Henryetta, that’s huge,” Police Chief Steve Norman said on camera for thehenryettan.
Chief Norman said a roommate was the person who discovered the body.
The entire area between 7th and 8th streets on Division was closed and blocked off for an extended period of time with tape for the investigation.
Several tips were received and a person of interest, Toby Holuby, was picked up for questioning by HPD.
“Henryetta is still one of those cities where neighbors watch out for other neighbors,” Chief Norman said. “We urge people to keep an eye out for their neighbors. Stay vigilant and let the police department do what they do.”
A GoFundMe account has been created to help with funeral expenses for Edwin Reid also known as James Reid.
Family members are unable to afford the cost of the funeral and appreciate any donations that can be given.
