Two employees of the Okmulgee County 911 Communication Center have been recognized for their work.
Last week, the Oklahoma Association of Chiefs of Police honored county telecommunicators Emerald Napier and Christa Wallker, Okmulgee County Emergency Management Director Tim Craighton announced Monday.
Napier and Walker were recommended for their actions on Nov. 1, 2018.
The pair were on duty at the 911 Communications Center when a male caller reported a shooting incident near Nuyaka. Walker answered the call while Napier coordinated the emergency response to the situation, ensuring law enforcement had all the pertinent information.
Their professional handling of the 911 call resulted in the arrest of a shooter within three minutes of the initial phone call.
If it were not for the work for these two individuals, the circumstances could have been different.
Craighton, along with the Okmulgee County Commissioners, thanked the pair for their work.
“It’s fortunate that we have people that handle it like they did and we want to express our appreciation,” Commissioner Robert Hardridge said.
The county also approved several items on their agenda:
• Officer’s Report - Treasurer’s Office for May, $188,427.16 and for June, $196,346.10;
