Henryetta Board of Education hired Tamara Cashman as a first grade teacher and Erin Heck as a third grade teacher for the 2019-2020 school year at their regular board meeting Monday night. Board President James Williams gave an Oath of Office to new board member for seat number five, Misty Sweeney. A Consulting Agreement with Pamela Boatright for Special Education and Visual Impairment and Henryetta Public Schools for the 2019-2020 school year was reviewed and accepted. A resignation letter from Amie Johnson was approved by board members, effective July 1. Minutes of a special board meeting on June 26 was also approved. Board members tabled the following agenda items:
• Request for state aid and/or federal funds for Schools General Fund Supplement 307 forms for the 2018-2019 school year;
• Hiring of one elementary 4th grade teacher, one elementary 5th grade teacher and one Vocational Agriculture teacher for the 2019-2020 school year.
Encumbrances and financial reports for the 2018-2019 school year were reviewed and approved.
Funds in the amount of $2,500 were approved to be transferred from the FFA account to the FFA Booster account in order to balance out funds and start the new year with the same amount in each account.
Two fundraisers, one proposed from the Athletic Director Josh Been to start an Alumni Association and the other for the softball team for advertisements were both approved.
In the principal’s report, elementary Principal Jayme Matlock told board members she has been busy with hiring and interviewing, working on schedules and getting ready for the new school year.
Maintenance Director Mr. Fox reported lots of projects going on throughout the summer with some items that will be surplused. He said he spoke to the county about the roadway near the bus barn around to the softball field about being chipped and sealed. Mr. Fox is awaiting a response.
Supt. Dwayne Noble said the schools are currently enrolling and the new fiscal year just began.
“I’m optimistic about next year,” Supt. Noble said.
During board comments, all members welcomed new board member Sweeney and the newly hired teachers.
There was no new business and the meeting adjourned.
