Back in the trees along Highway 75 is a hidden gem – Jandebeurs Motor Sports Park – a sprawling 170 acre motocross paradise for enthusiasts, families and spectators wanting to see fast-paced, adrenaline inspired sports.
Jandebeurs Motor Sports Park is adding another two gems to its crown, debuting the Track in the Trees, a mile-long motocross jaunt through the trees, and a state of the art national track. Three tracks sit at the entrance of the park, including the Expert and Youth Tracks, but a short drive through the sprawling hills on Jandebeurs’ land takes you back into the trees and to the new tracks.
Jandebeurs has experienced a growth spurt in recent years with an increasing influx of riders from across the country.
“The tracks became busier and the pleasure riders and beginners were forced away from the front to ride back in the farm where it’s easier and more fun for them,” Bob Jandebeur, owner of the park, said.
Jandebeur decided to expand his park to appease both experienced riders and those just learning the ropes. Track and the Trees is located near the National track, both of which are set to make its debut this Sunday.
“I decided that we needed a place for those that just wanted to ride and play,” Jandebeur said. “And when it’s hot in the summer, it’s shaded, that’s pretty rare, and it’s a one mile loop. So, it’s a lot of fun.”
Track in the Trees features a trail loop option for riders and several shady trails. While the Track in the Trees is more about fun, the National track is for more serious, experienced riders. Jandebeur choose to tackle the process of building a national caliber track in the hopes of hosting national motocross races in the future.
“The National Track in its design and nature is being built to host a state series race we’ve been included in this year and we’ll have, this coming weekend [July] 13-14, several hundred racers in town, staying here at the park,” Jandebeurs said. “And about a thousand spectators or so coming to watch this event. From that we’ll be planning to have an annual national event. So, like a $25,000 purse with riders from all over the country.”
The National Track boasts several jumps and turns that qualify it for national races. Riders will be able to practice on the National Track this week, testing it out before Jandebeurs hosts the Oklahoma State Championship Series of Motocross Saturday, July 13 and Sunday, July 14.
Jandebeurs attracts riders from all around the country who want to experience a wide variety of trails and tracks.
According to Jandebeur, riders from Missouri, Texas, Arkansas and further travel to use the motorcorss tracks located at Jandebeurs Motor Sports Park.
