The Henryetta Youth Football Association is gearing up for the upcoming little league season with a variety of camps to build future football players’ skills. Parents can sign up their children for 1/2 or 3/4 teams Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Henryetta Police Department. The Henryetta Youth Football Association (HYFA) works with children in grades 1st through 6th grade in both football and cheer.
As a part of the program, little league football players can attend a day camp Thursday, July 11 and Friday, July 12. The football camp allows players to get first hand coaching from Henryetta High School football coaching staff. The two-day camp is from 11 a.m. to at least 2 p.m. at the Henryetta High School football field. The cost of the camp is free for players enrolled in the Henryetta Youth Football program.
According to HYFA, the camp is not mandatory for all players but is strongly recommended for players to gain new skills and to get a better understanding of the game.
HYFA will also host several camps the later half of July at the high school track from 6-8 p.m.
The conditioning camps will be hosted on Monday, July 22-Tuesday, July 23, Thursday, July 25 and Monday, July 29- Tuesday, July 30.
Football players are required to bring a white helmet, tethered mouth piece, practice jersey and pants, as well as cleats to the first official practice, which is set for Aug. 1.
