Born in North Bergen, New Jersey Harriet is an American author of several hundred children’s books mostly picture books and easy to read books for children. E. B. White, author of some classic children’s books (born: July 11th, 1899 in Mount Vernon, NY and died October 1st, 1985 in North Brooklin, Maine.) White graduated from Cornell University, had an older brother, became a staff writer for The New Yorker, he married and they had one son. It was because of his niece that White got into writing children’s books with his first book, Stuart Little being published in 1945. Charlotte’s Web came along in 1952 and then his third children’s novel The Trumpet of the Swan in 1970. Our final Summer Reading Program will be held on Monday, July 8th at 1:30 p.m. at the Civic Center with Donna Lovell presenting the program. Kids can continue to read until August 3rd for prizes.
