Okmulgee Police Department (OPD) is seeking help to identify a person suspected in a burglary of a local business.
On May 10, just after 5 a.m., the OPD took a burglary report from Aaron’s Furniture, located in the 2000 block of South Wood Drive.
According to Chief Joe Prentice, the suspect(s) apparently parked their vehicle approximately one-eighth of a mile away from the rear of the store. The culprits cut two fences and walked across a livestock pasture to get to the building.
“Once there, the suspect(s) pulled the electric meter and filled an alarm bell with expanding foam insulation, before breaking in the back door of the store,” Prentice said. “Once inside the suspect(s) gained access to the safe and a storage closet. They took a deposit bag and merchandise before leaving the store.”
As the investigation progressed, video obtained from the nearby Walmart store revealed an unidentified male purchased wire cutters, electrical tape and expanding foam insulation around 3 a.m.
Photographs obtained of the suspect show his right hand covered, possibly indicating an injury. On the left hand is a tattoo of an anchor. The other photograph shows the cap he was wearing at the time.
Anyone with information on this person is asked to call Okmulgee Police Department at 918-756-3511 or on Facebook or your local law enforcement agency.
