Gridiron preparations take county teams to Bixby 7-on-7 tournament Friday

Football is still months away, but county football teams are hard at work preparing for the upcoming 2019-2020 season. Henryetta, Okmulgee, Beggs and Morris have been testing out plays and

Football is still months away, but county football teams are hard at work preparing for the upcoming 2019-2020 season. Henryetta, Okmulgee, Beggs and Morris have been testing out plays and getting ready with several 7-on-7 scrimmages, leading up to the Bixby 7-on-7 Tournament Friday, June 21. The four county teams will go head-to-head against other local 3A and 4A teams. Teams are set to arrive at Bixby High School’s football field in the morning with the first games set to tipoff at 8 a.m. The tournament split teams into big and small school pools. County teams will be in the following brackets:

Small School (Pool A) Cushing Jay Blackwell Beggs Locust Grove (LG) Verdigris

Small School (Pool B) Okmulgee Morris Lincoln Christian (LC) Henryetta Pawhuska After competing against each other throughout the morning and afternoon, teams will meet in the pool showdown from 3:15 to 4:45 p.m. Find a complete list of times for each county team below: 8 a.m. - Okmulgee vs. LC 8:30 a.m. - Beggs vs. Verdigris 9:30 a.m. - Henryetta vs. LC 10 a.m. - Henryetta vs. Okmulgee 10:30 a.m. - Beggs vs. Blackwell 11 a.m. - Beggs vs. LG and Henryetta vs. Pawhuska 11:30 a.m. - Morris vs. LC 12 p.m. - Beggs vs. Cushing and Okmulgee vs. Pawhuska 12:30 p.m. - Henryetta vs. Morris 1:15 p.m. - Okmulgee vs. Cushing 1:45 p.m. Henryetta vs. LG and Morris vs. Verdigris 2:15 p.m. - Beggs vs. Pawhuska and Morris vs. Cushing 2:45 p.m. Okmulgee vs. Verdigris 3:15 p.m. Henryetta vs. Beggs Henryetta, Okmulgee, Beggs and Morris will play on Field 3 and Field 4 during the tournament. Henryetta has been preparing for the tournament every Tuesday evening in Okmulgee, competing in 7-on-7 scrimmages.
