Guest speaker at the June 12 Henryetta Rotary Club meeting was Bruce Force who discussed the upcoming Okmulgee Air Show.
Force said the show is planned for Saturday, Sept. 21 with the gates opening at 10 a.m. for visitors to view static displays. The air show begins at 12 p.m. and is anticipated to last around three hours.
“We hold the show every other year,” Force said. “The 2017 show brought in between 3,000 and 4,000 people. Every food vendor was completely sold out of food.”
Along with displays, there will be bounce houses for kids, six food vendors, helicopter rides, possible balloon tether rides and two Italian-made jets and others on display.
Force said a Special Ops Blackhawk helicopter from New Mexico and several other specialty aircraft will be a part of the show.
Skydive Airtight of Skiatook will open the show with an air jump from around 4,000 feet.
Falcon Flight Formation Team plan to make their aerobatic flight performance as well.
There will be several guest T-6 flyers, aerobatic airplanes, an aerobatic bi-plane that will race a motorcycle down the runway, hyper byte plane and more.
“Tulsa and Muskogee Civil Air Patrol will be on hand during the air show,” Force said. “Everyone is invited to attend. I don’t think you will be disappointed.”
During the 2017 show, over 100 volunteers helped make the event a great success.
Force said there will be plenty of space for parking. People-mover trailers will be on-hand to transport visitors from parking areas to the show.
Cost of admission will be $5 per person.
