Henryetta Board of Education accepted the resignations of five staff members and hired five staff members at their June 10 regular meeting.
Resignations were accepted from Clayton Vaughn, Colton Converse, Michelle Jobes, Tracey Sontag and Ashley Burton.
After returning from a near hour-long executive session, board members rehired Dutch Vandenborn as the high school girls golf coach and hired Luca Stidman as Special Education Teacher, Kristin Hargas as Special Education Teacher and High School Cheer Coach, Dana Chew and Sherry Flood as elementary Third Grade teachers and Tammy Smith as Kindergarten Secretary, all for the 2019-2020 school year.
In the school board seat recently vacated by Jeannie Duncan, Henryetta Board of Education members appointed Misty Sweeney to the post.
Discussion was held regarding Worker’s Compensation Insurance and Property and Casualty Insurance Coverage with Oklahoma Schools Insurance Group (OSIG), a non-profit group dedicated only to schools, for the 2019-2020 school year.
According to estimated rates, worker’s comp rates decreased slightly and property and casualty rates increased since last year.
Board members reviewed and accepted the new rates for the upcoming school year.
A resolution authorizing the calling and holding of a special election for the issuance of general obligation bonds was approved. The election will be Sept. 10 as school district voters will see the $980,000 Transportation Bond issue on the ballot.
Request for state aid and/or federal funds for the school’s general fund supplement 307 forms for the 2018-2019 school year were approved. Supt. Dwayne Noble noted the forms are timesheets that need approval to close out the school year.
End-of-year encumbrances and financial reports were reviewed and accepted.
Fundraisers for football, track and cheer-leading were approved for the 2019-2020 school year.
Other agenda items approved by the Henryetta School Board included:
• CRW Consulting Services, LLC E-Rate Contract for the 2019-2020 school year. The contract entails the federal government subsidized internet and telephone services for schools.
• Renewal Agreement with Follett Solutions for the 2019-2020 school year for electronic check-out of library books.
• Consulting Agreement with Jamie Brison and Henryetta Public Schools for the 2019-2020 school year.
• Renewal Contract with Standley Systems for copiers for the 2019-2020 school year.
• Renewal Agreement with The Center for Education Law for the 2019-2020 school year.
During the Superintendent’s Report, Henryetta Knight Brigade Director Alan Montgomery, band students and parents who traveled to Washington, D.C. gave details about their recent trip to perform in the Memorial Day Parade.
“The kids were awestruck,” Montgomery said. “Thank you (school board) for giving us the opportunity.”
Montgomery announced that the band received an invitation to perform in the 2021 Tournament of Roses Parade.
In the Principal’s Report, Kelly Furer asked that everyone remember Coach Vandenborn and what he’s going through and continue to pray for his health.
Supt. Noble announced that updates in the kitchen will be worked on this summer.
