In preparation for Monday, the VFW and American Legion placed over 2,500 flags on veterans graves at Westlawn, Salem, New Sonora, Hitchita, Salt Creek (Wilson) and Whitey Pangle (Pharoah) cemeteries.
Yesterday, flags were placed along Main Street. “Because of the generous support of the community during our recent flag drive,” VFW Post 530 Commander Bill Goodner said, “we hope to leave the flags displayed along Main Street permanently.”
