Board members approved her resignation and gave her well wishes. Duncan said her goodbyes and left the meeting.
Henryetta Elementary Special Education teacher, Tarra Christy, also gave her resignation, effective May 17. She has been employed at the school for the past four years.
In new business, Superintendent Dwayne Noble read a resignation letter from Taci Sims, 3rd grade teacher. The resignation was accepted.
Board members hired Sarah Duncan as a 1st grade elementary teacher for the 2019-2020 school year.
Other agenda items approved by the board included:
• Minutes of the April 8 regular board meeting.
• Minutes of the May 9 special board meeting.
• Request for state aid and/or federal funds for the school General Fund Supplement 307 forms for the 2018-2019 school year (for operating expenses).
• Encumbrances and financial reports for 2018-2019.
• Application for Temporary Appropriations for the 2019-2020 school year. Supt. Noble said this is estimated to be around $8 million that will be received from the State of Oklahoma for next year.
• Renewal Agreements with Barlow Education for management services, Clearwater Enterprises for natural gas supplier, Department of Rehabilitation Services, Jenkins & Associates for treasurer and payroll services, OSSBA Employment Services Program and OSSBA for membership renewal for the 2019-2020 school year.
New Henryetta football coach, Lance Beck, discussed upcoming fundraisers that will be hosted by the football team including a car and bike show with concession and a silent auction. All funds generated will go to purchase new uniforms, equipment and other items to benefit the football team.
“I want to get the team out there in the community,” Beck said. “During fundraisers, coaches and football players will be working.”
Henryetta Board of Education members approved the adoption of a resolution for a lease/purchase agreement with Standard Capital Finance LLC for new kitchen equipment.
“There is a need to update kitchen equipment,” Supt. Noble said. “With the outdated pieces, it’s getting harder and harder to find replacements.”

In the Superintendent’s Report, Noble reminded board members about the transportation bond election on Sept. 10. Currently, the school spends over $40 thousand a year for repairs to buses and transportation vehicles. Noble hopes the election will pass and hopes to get numerous full-size buses, smaller 15-passenger buses and other vehicles to add to the fleet.
“I anticipate taxes won’t be raised if the bond passes,” Noble said. “The reason for this election is due to ongoing safety issues for our kids who ride daily on the buses and those who travel to other cities and towns for games or field trips.”
Board members in attendance were James Williams, David Bullard, Brandi Brown and Pam Bealko. Tammie Fairres recorded minutes of the meeting.
