An eyewitness and video surveillance has led to the arrest of two people, accused of stealing from Okmulgee County mailboxes.
An Okmulgee County Sheriff’s Office (OCSO) deputy was called to a home on North 330 Road in the eastern party of the county on Saturday afternoon.
The homeowner reported two subjects had broken into his locked mailbox. The victim not only caught them in the act but also had video of the crime, according to the court affidavit.
It was reported the suspects also broke into a mailbox at a neighboring residence.
Because of the continuing thefts, area residents were forced to get post office boxes for more important mail.
Contact with a possible suspect or suspects was made on North 320 Road, where the vehicle allegedly used in the thefts was identified.
At the residence, the officer contacted two subjects, identified as 27-year-old Joshua Lee Driver and his wife, 26-year-old Cassie Breanne Driver.
During the investigation and after receiving statements from the two suspects, they were taken into custody and transported to the Okmulgee County Jail.
Both are held on $20,000 each on complaints of Conspiracy to Commit Felony, Malicious Injury to Property, Grand Larceny and Second Degree Burglary.
An initial appearance will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 16 in Okmulgee County District Court.
