Lady Knights rout Eufaula in regular-season finale

The Henryetta Lady Knights closed out their regular-season schedule Tuesday with a 14-2 win over the Eufaula Lady Ironheads. Prior to Tuesday's regular-season finale at Eufaula, the Lady Knights (19-10)

The Henryetta Lady Knights closed out their regular-season schedule Tuesday with a 14-2 win over the Eufaula Lady Ironheads.

Prior to Tuesday's regular-season finale at Eufaula, the Lady Knights (19-10) split their 3-team showdown with Kellyville and Barnsdall in Kellyville. The Henryetta ladies dropped a 14-2 decision to the host Kellyville Lady Ponies in their opening contest, then notched a 25-10 victory over the Barnsdall Lady Panthers in the nightcap.

The Lady Knights began postseason play Thursday in the Class 4A district tournament at home against Haskell and Chelsea.

Thursday's district tournament got started at 2 p.m. with Haskell taking on Chelsea with Henryetta battling the loser at 3:30 p.m. The Lady Knights then squared off against the Haskell-Chelsea winner at 5 p.m. If all three teams had one loss after the first two games, Haskell met Chelsea at 6:30 p.m. with the winner battling the host Lady Knights in the district championship game at 8 p.m. If only two teams remain after the first two games, those teams met at 6:30 p.m. with an 'if necessary' game scheduled for 8 p.m.

In Monday's showdown with Kellyville, the Lady Knights' two runs came in the second and third innings. The first Henryetta run came on a solo home run in the second by Mattie Blackbear, while the other run came on an RBI single by Lauren Lee in the third.

Kellyville opened the scoring with seven runs in the bottom of the first, then added two in the second and five in the third to hand the Henryetta ladies the 14-2 defeat.

Lee finished 2 for 2 with a pair of singles to lead the offensive attack for Henryetta.

Besides Blackbear's solo home run in the second, the other base hits for the Lady Knights against Kellyville came on singles by Jalynn Joslin, Kaylie Hamric, Hulleah Wincle, and Emily Smith.

Other baserunners for Henryetta against Kellyville were Kasedi Gobin (fielder's choice) and Avery Miller (2 fielder's choices).

In Monday's battle with Barnsdall, the Lady Knights led 5-3 after one with Barnsdall edging Henryetta 7-5 in the second to deadlock the score at 10-10 after two innings of action.

The Lady Knights plated nine runs in the third and six in the fourth to walk away with the 25-10 victory.

The Henryetta squad was led offensively by Jalynn Joslin (4 for 4, 2 singles, 2 home runs, 5 RBIs), Lauren Lee (4 for 4, single, 3 home runs, 6 RBIs), and Autumn Blackbear (4 for 4, 2 singles, double, home run, RBI) with four hits apiece. Joslin's home runs came on a 2-run shot in the second and a 3-run shot in the third.

Lee's roundtrippers were a 3-run shot in the first, a solo shot in the second, and a 2-run shot in the fourth.

Autumn Blackbear's home run came on a solo blast in the first.

Katelyn Dwiggins was next offensively for Henryetta against Barnsdall, going 3 for 4 with three singles.

Other Lady Knight players with multi-hit games in the win were Avery Miller (2 for 4, 2 home runs, 3 RBIs), Mattie Blackbear (2 for 4, single, home run, 2 RBIs), Lexi Lollis (2 for 4, single, home run, 4 RBIs), and Hulleah Wincle (2 for 3, 2 singles, RBI) with two hits each. Miller's home runs came on a solo shot in the first and two-run shot in the second. Mattie Blackbear's roundtripper came on a 2-run shot in the third, while Lollis' home run came on a Grand Slam in the fourth.

The final three hits for Henryetta against Barnsdall came on singles by Kasedi Gobin and Kaylie Hamric and a double by Emily Smith.

Other baserunners for the Lady Knights in the contest were Wincle (walk, error), Gobin (error, fielder's choice), Hamric (2 errors, fielder's choice), and Miller (error).

In Tuesday's regular-season finale against Eufaula, the Lady Knights led 3-1 after one and 4-2 after two. The Henryetta squad put the game out of reach with eight runs in the top of the third, then ended the contest with a pair of runs in the top of the fifth to give Henryetta the 14-2, run-rule, win.

Lauren Lee was tops offensively for Henryetta in the regular-season finale, going 3 for 4 with a single, 2 home runs, and 4 RBIs. Lee's first home run came on a 2-run shot in the third, then connected on a solo blast in the fifth.

Emily Smith also had a 3-hit game for the Lady Knights, going 3 for 3 with three singles and 2 RBIs.

Avery Miller (2 for 4, double, home run, 2 RBIs) and Mattie Blackbear (2 for 4, single, home run, RBI) also recorded multi-hit games for Henryetta with two hits each.

Miller's home run came on a 2-run blast in the first, while Mattie Blackbear's roundtripper came on a solo shot in the first.

The final five hits for the Lady Knights in the regular-season finale came on singles by Autumn Blackbear, Kasedi Gobin, and Katelyn Dwiggins and doubles by Lexi Lollis and Kaylie Hamric.

Other HHS baserunners against Eufaula were Gobin (error), Lollis (error), Mattie Blackbear (error), and Autumn Blackbear (error).
