A collision Saturday afternoon south of Henryetta claimed the life of an Edmond man.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP) reports Alexander Mcalpin, 25, died due to head injuries at the scene of the crash which happened at 2:07 p.m. in the northbound lane of the Indian Nation Turnpike about two miles south of Henryetta.
According to OHP, a Dodge truck pulling a 29 foot travel trailer was disabled on the right shoulder of the turnpike.
A 2014 Infiniti, driven by Joseph Dowell, 32, a resident of Mounds, was traveling northbound on the road, when the vehicle left the roadway and struck the rear of the truck. Dowell’s passenger, Mcalpin, was pinned inside the car for about an hour.
The driver of the truck was identified as Armondo Sandoval, 41 of Wichita, Kansas. He was not injured in the crash.
A 13-year-old passenger in the truck was taken by Okmulgee County EMS to the Henryetta hospital with a leg injury, but was treated and released.
Two other passengers in the Sandoval vehicle were not injured.
Dowell was taken by ambulance to the Henryetta hospital with head and arm injuries. He was treated and released.
Investigating the accident was Trooper Keith Robertson with assistance from Troopers Jayce Johnson, Colt Duncan and Levi Foreman.
The cause of the collision is still under investigation.
