TULSA - The Henryetta Golden Knight varsity baseball team will begin 2019 with three-consecutive road games, beginning with today's season opener at Lincoln Christian School in Tulsa.

The Tulsa private school ended the Knights' 2018 season last April in the Class 3A district tournament in Lincoln Christian. The Henryetta squad battled in both contests of the Best of 3 battle but wound up on the losing end of 4-1 and 8-2 margins, respectively, to finish 2018 with an 8-14 record.

The Henryetta diamond squad will seek a little revenge on the Bulldogs in today's season opener, which is scheduled for 5 p.m. on the LC campus - located at 1003 N. 129th E. Ave. in Tulsa.

After the trip to Tulsa, the Knights' next two road games will be a little closer to home, traveling to Beggs on Saturday for a 12 p.m. county showdown with the Beggs Golden Demons, then heading to Dewar on Tuesday to battle the Dewar Dragons at 4:30 p.m.

The first home game for the Henryetta baseball team in 2019 will be March 7 against the Eufaula Ironheads. The meeting with Eufaula will be the beginning of a 3-game homestand for the Knights with the two other home games coming March 8 against Haskell and March 11 against Wetumka.

The Knights will travel to Morris March 12 and Kiefer March 15 before spending the next five games at home, including a 3-team battle with Antlers and Okmulgee on March 19.

The other four home games will feature Kiefer March 22, Weleetka March 23, and Beggs March 25.

The Henryetta diamond squad will close out the month of March at the annual Weleetka baseball tournament March 28-30.

The month of April will begin on the road with the Knights traveling to Okmulgee for a county showdown with the Okmulgee Bulldogs.

The HHS squad will travel to Beggs April 2 for a county meeting with the Preston Pirates.

After the showdown with Preston, the Knights will compete in the annual Joe Fowler Dewar Gumbo Classic baseball tournament April 4-6. The Henryetta squad will begin the 3-day tournament on their home field April 4 before finishing the final two days of tournament action in Dewar.

After the Dewar Tournament, the Knights will host Okemah April 8, then will travel to Weleetka the following day before two-straight home dates - April 11 against Kellyville and April 15 against Morris.

The Henryetta diamond squad will compete in the annual Okmulgee Sonic Classic tournament in Okmulgee April 18-20, then will close out the regular season April 22 at Warner.

The postseason will begin April 25-27 with the district tournament, followed by the regional tournament May 2-4 and the state tournament May 9-11.

The road to the Class 3A state tournament will be a tough journey for the Henryetta Golden Knights with the journey beginning today in Tulsa and a district tournament rematch with the Lincoln Christian Bulldogs.
