SULPHUR - The Henryetta varsity basketball teams suffered a pair of losses here last Saturday evening to the host Sulphur Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs.
The setbacks came in the championship games of the Class 3A, Area IV, District 1 tournament at Sulphur High School.
The Lady Knights found themselves on the losing end of a 90-47 outcome to the sixth-ranked Lady Bulldogs, while the Knights dropped the nightcap by a 73-69 decision.
The district title defeats put the Henryetta cage squads in ‘must-win’ situations this Thursday afternoon.
The Lady Knights will battle Spiro in a regional consolation quarterfinal matchup at 1:30 p.m. at the Henryetta Event Center, while the Knights will square off against Okmulgee in a boys regional tournament elimination game at 3 p.m.
Wins on Thursday will put the Henryetta squads into Friday’s consolation semifinals at 1:30 and 3 p.m., respectively, in Henryetta, while losses on Thursday will bring the HHS cage squads’ seasons to a close.
