A delayed fatality collision occurred on Feb. 1 at 10:41 p.m. on Hwy. 62 west of Henryetta, one-tenth of a mile west of County Road N3850, 5.9 miles east of Okemah in Okfuskee County.
According to Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP) Trooper David Brown’s accident report, 27-year-old Henryetta resident Damonique Garcia was driving a 2004 Dodge pickup eastbound, departed the roadway and struck a tree. She was transported by Creek Nation EMS to St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa where she was listed in stable condition with multiple injuries. St. Francis reported that Garcia succumbed to injuries on Feb. 2 at 9:30 a.m. Trooper Brown noted the cause of the accident was Driving Under the Influence and he noticed the odor of alcoholic beverage on Garcia’s breath. Seatbelts were equipped but not in use. Airbags were equipped and deployed. Weather conditions were clear. OHP Trooper Scott Aldridge assisted Trooper Brown with the investigation.
