DEWAR - The Dewar Lady Dragons suffered a heartbreaking 52-44, overtime, loss to Class A No. 14 Crowder Tuesday evening at the Clell W. Henson Fieldhouse. The Lady Dragons (13-8) battled back and forth with the visiting Demonettes and led by six, 35-29, heading into the final eight minutes of regulation, only to watch Crowder rally in the final frame to force overtime. The Dewar ladies took the opening period by a slim 11-9 margin, then Crowder outscored the host Lady Dragons 16-11 in the second quarter for a three-point halftime advantage, 25-22. The Lady Dragons dominated the third stanza, outscoring the visitors 13-4 to retake the lead at 35-29 with eight minutes remaining in regulation. The Dewar cage squad was unable to complete the upset win in the fourth quarter, as Crowder took the final frame 15-9 to deadlock the score at 44-44 and send the contest to a 4-minute overtime period. In the overtime, the Lady Dragons were unable to tally any points, while Crowder put up eight points in the extra period to hand the Dewar ladies the 52-44, overtime, loss. Morgan Britt led the way offensively for Dewar with 15 points. Noelani Corbin was next for the Lady Dragons with 11, followed by Savannah Been with 10. Skyler Randall rounded out the DHS scoring with eight points. Crowder was led in scoring by Stevie Stinchcomb with a game-high 21 points. Maggie Sockey also reached double figures for the visitors with 10.
