DEWAR - The Dewar varsity basketball teams hosted their Okmulgee County foes, the Wilson Tigers and Lady Tigers, Monday evening at the Clell W. Henson Fieldhouse.

The host Dewar cage squads took both county battles by 20-plus margins to extend their Crossroads Conference records.

The Lady Dragons, coming off their third-place finish at last week's county basketball tournament in Okmulgee, improved to 13-7 on the year with a 69-31 victory in the opening contest.

The Dragons, who finished sixth at last week's county tournament, also improved their season record to 13-7 in the nightcap, defeating the visiting Tigers 76-51.

The Dewar squads were back home on Tuesday, hosting the Crowder Demons and Demonettes and will be at Strother on Thursday for a showdown with the Strother Yellowjackets and Lady Yellowjackets.

The regular-season finale for the Dragons and Lady Dragons will be next Tuesday at home against Graham-Dustin.

Wilson returned to action Tuesday with a home meeting with Graham-Dustin and will travel to Wetumka Thursday before closing out the regular season next Tuesday at home against Mason.

In Monday's girls game, the Lady Dragons came out of the first period with a 26-0 advantage. Both teams tallied 12 points in the second quarter for a 38-12 Dewar lead at halftime.

The Dewar ladies extended their lead to 60-18 after a 22-6 margin in the third stanza, while Wilson 'won' the final frame 13-9, to make the final outcome, 69-31, in favor of the host Dewar Lady Dragons.

Noelani Corbin and Gracie Britt led a balanced offensive scoring attack for Dewar with 10 points apiece. Autumn Campbell and Staejha Mack were next in the scoring column for the Lady Dragons with nine points each, followed by Savannah Been with eight, Morgan Britt and Skyler Randall six apiece, Kobee Hewett and Nakea Harjochee four each, and Talyn Been three.

Wilson was led in scoring by Autumn Barnard with a game-high 12 points. Raven Cargola was next for the Lady Tigers with 11. Terri McCullah and Shelby Rader rounded out the Wilson scoring with six and two points, respectively.

In the boys contest Monday, the Dragons came out of the opening stanza with a 16-5 advantage, then edged past the visiting Tigers 17-16 in the second period for a 33-21 halftime lead.

The Dewar gentlemen took the high-scoring third quarter 29-20, then closed out the 76-51 victory with a 14-10 margin in the final frame.

Dewar's Ty Whitlow led all scorers with a game-high 23 points. Joey Fowler (11), Brett Hays (10), and James Brison (10) also reached double figures in scoring for the Dragons in the county battle.
