Yearly performers at the Henryetta Labor Day Gospel Singing, The Williamsons, have recently claimed their first #1 hit of the year with “Every Moment, Every Mountain, Every Mile” on the Absolutely Gospel Music Chart.
Their song has remained at the top of the chart for several weeks in a row.
The Williamsons travel all over the United States performing their gospel masterpieces. Currently, they are performing throughout Florida and will travel to Georgia at the end of this month before returning to Oklahoma.
Current band members include Donnie Williamson, Lisa Williamson, Darin Hebert and Karl Rice.
In 1969, Woody and Pinky Williamson and their children Donnie and Tennie began singing together, holding various concerts and revivals in Oklahoma and the surrounding states.
During a reorganization in 1998, the group was known as The Homesteaders Quartet.
Officially in 2008, the group changed their name to The Williamsons.
More than a dozen recordings have been produced with the majority of their songs being written by Donnie, Lisa and Karl.
A member of the original Williamson Family group, Donnie sings baritone, serves as emcee and performs the piano during each concert or musical event. He and his wife Lisa, live in Wetumka and enjoy spending time with their daughters, Sadie and Olivia. Donnie also enjoys spending time with his son Casey and wife Christine.
In 2000, Lisa was asked to join The Williamsons and has been a member, traveling with the group ever since. She not only sings, but plays the bass guitar, acoustic guitar, piano and drums. In 2003, she married Donnie.
Karl joined The Williamsons in 2013, providing them with one of the “most powerful and dynamic voices in southern gospel music day.” He plays various instruments including dobro, harmonica, piano, guitar and the mandolin. He and his wife Daniell and their daughter Grace reside in Wetumka.
One of the lowest singers in the country, Darin caught the attention of The Williamsons when he was a senior in high school in 2006, and joined the group just before graduating high school. In 2008, he married Kallie Berndt. They reside just outside of Weleetka with their children, Patrick and Emaleigh.
