Tina Berry was approved as an adjunct teacher for three periods of Middle School Mathematics for the 2018-2019 school year at the Henryetta Board of Education regular meeting on Jan. 14.

Board members heard and approved a resignation letter from Alissa Pucket as of Dec. 15, 2018. Pucket gave her resignation from Henryetta Elementary School due to health reasons.

Other agenda items discussed and approved by board members included:

• Sanders, Bledsoe & Hewitt’s presentation of Audit for 2017-2018 school year;

• Request for State Aid and/or Federal Funds for Schools General Fund Supplement 307 for the 2018-2019 school year;

• Minutes from the Dec. 10, 2018 regular board meeting;

• Encumbrances and Financial Reports for the 2018-2019 school year;

• Renewal of Skyrider Communications Internal Connections Agreement for 2018-2019.

H.E.A. Negotiations for the 2018-2019 school year were discussed and tabled.

Board members unanimously voted to table convening into regular session to discuss the hiring of an elementary paraprofessional position.

Henryetta High School Principal Kelly Furer said she is pleased with the basketball teams and wrestling team performances. She also said that representatives from Green Country Technology Center will be on campus Thursday visiting with Sophomores about attending the center.

A college and career day is planned for HHS graduates to come back and visit with current seniors about college and other things to think about once they graduate.

Principal Furer also announced that the HHS Teacher of the Month is Kira Hardgrave.

Elementary Principal Jayme Matlock reported that the canned food drive was an overwhelming success with over 3,000 cans donated in the elementary alone. “I’m really proud of the kids,” Matlock said. Several angels were able to be placed on the Angel Tree at Walmart and 75 to 80 of them were able to be blessed in time for the holidays.

“There were a lot of heartfelt moments just before we released for the Christmas holiday,” Matlock said.

HES Dean of Students Roger Williams said, “The younger basketball girls are doing really good.”

In the maintenance director’s report, plans are being made to cleanup the tree line along the street around the elementary.

Superintendent Dwayne Noble announced the school is going to receive another $10,000 STEM grant and on Jan. 28, an astronaut will be visiting the school in the STEM building.

In new business, school board members approved the recent $129,156 donation from the W.R. “Dick” and Hazel Stubbs Trust to be added to the General Fund.

School board members attending the meeting were David Bullard, Casey Jones, Jeanie Duncan and Brandi Brown. James Williams was absent. Also attending was Tammie Fairres and Supt. Dwayne Noble.
