A 32-year-old Fresno, California man, Harpreet Singh, was fatally injured in a collision on Jan. 10 around 11:13 a.m. on I-40 westbound, two miles east of Henryetta.
According to Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Jared Sharp, a 2018 Mack semi tractor/trailer driven by 56-year-old Juan T. Posadas of Mayflower, Arkansas was westbound on I-40. A second vehicle, a 2019 Freightliner semi tractor/trailer driving by Singh was stopped on the westbound shoulder. Trooper Sharp reports that a collision occurred and still remains under investigation of the OHP Traffic Homicide Unit.
Posadas refused treatment at the scene for minor injuries.
Harpreet Singh was transported by Air Evac to St. John’s Hospital in Tulsa where he was pronounced dead at the hospital due to massive injuries.
A passenger of the second semi, 28-year-old Baljinder Singh of Daly City, California was not injured.
Trooper Sharp further reports that the condition of Posadas and the cause of the collision remain under investigation.
Westbound I-40 traffic was backed up for several miles as both westbound lanes were closed for 4 hours and 50 minutes. OHP opened the outside lane to westbound traffic at 4:05 p.m. The final westbound lane was opened at 12:14 a.m. with a total time of 12 hours and 59 minutes.
Assisting Trooper Sharp with the investigation were Lt. Dwight Durant, Lt. Vern Wilson, Trooper Colt Duncan, Trooper Mark Southall, Trooper Brian Warren, Trooper Michael Taylor, Trooper Scott Shropshire and Trooper Russell Knoke.
