OKEMAH - The Dewar varsity basketball teams came away with a pair of double-digit victories Tuesday evening at Mason High School.

The double-digit wins by the Dewar cage squads came courtesy of an early offensive spark in the first two quarters and stellar defense throughout their respective contests.

The Lady Dragons improved to 5-0 on the year with a 68-25 drubbing of the host Mason Lady Eagles, while the Dragons (6-2) returned to their winning ways in the nightcap, defeating the host Mason Eagles 55-31 to complete the road game sweep.

Tuesday's road battle with Mason was the first-half finale for the Dragons, while the Lady Dragons will close out their first-half schedule next weekend at the 54th Annual Tournament of Champions event at the Mabee Center in Tulsa. The Dewar ladies are scheduled to begin tournament play next Thursday at 12 p.m. against Class 4A No. 1 Muldrow. The annual 3-day basketball tournament is scheduled to continue through next Saturday.

In Tuesday's girls contest, the Lady Dragons controlled the tempo of the game from the opening tip, outscoring the host Lady Eagles 22-9 in the first period.

The Dewar ladies continued their dominance in the second stanza, taking a 47-14 lead into the halftime break after coming out of the second frame with a convincing 25-5 advantage.

The scoring was a little more balanced in the final two frames with Dewar coming out on top in each quarter. The Lady Dragons outscored Mason 12-9 in the third period, then completed the 43-point victory by taking the final frame by a 9-2 margin.

Skye Been led a balanced offensive attack for Dewar with a game-high 25 point performance. Staejha Mack also reached double figures for the Lady Dragons in the road win with 10 points.

The trio of Anika Wehner, KiKi Carter, and Skyler Randall rounded out the Lady Dragon scoring with two points each.

Mason was led in scoring by Berryhill with 11.

In the boys game Tuesday, the Dragons escaped the first period with a 12-7 advantage, then took the second quarter by a 15-4 margin to go into halftime with a commanding 27-11 lead.

The Dewar gentlemen increased their margin to 24 (45-21), heading into the final eight minutes of action after coming out of the third stanza with an 18-10 advantage.
