This coming Tuesday, Nov. 6 Okmulgee County voters head to the polls for the highly anticipated General Election for State, Federal and County seats.
The election will feature a rather lengthy ballot for all parties with several state questions to be considered.
Choices of State Officers include:
Governor – Chris Powell, Libertarian; Kevin Stitt, Republican and Drew Edmondson, Democrat.
Lieutenant Governor – Ivan Holmes, Libertarian; Matt Pinnell, Republican and Anastasia A. Pittman, Democrat.
State Auditor & Inspector – John Yeutter, Libertarian and Cindy Byrd, Republican.
Attorney General – Mike Hunter, Republican and Mark Myles, Democrat.
State Treasurer – Randy McDaniel, Republican and Charles de Coune, Democrat.
Superintendent of Public Instruction – Larry Huff, Independent; Joy Hofmeister, Republican and John Cox, Democrat.
Commissioner of Labor – Brandt Dismukes, Libertarian; Leslie Osborn, Republican and Fred Dorrell, Democrat.

There will be five total state questions on the ballot as follows:
State Question 793, Initiative Petition No. 415 – This highly-debated state question will ask voters whether or not to allow optometrists and opticians to operate in retail stores.
State Question 794 – This state question, if approved, would allow changes to be made to vicitim’s rights from the Marsy’s Law Crime Victim Rights Amendment.
State Question 798 – This measure would allow candidates of the same party for Governor and Lt. Governor to run together on the same ticket. Voters will be able to cast one vote for their preferred ticket.
State Question 800 – New Reserve Fund for Oil and Gas Revenue. If approved, this measure would set aside 5 percent of oil and gas gross production taxes into a trust fund in 2020 and flow into the state’s General Revenue Fund.
State Question 801 – Allow Building Fund Revenue for School Operations. This question, if approved, will allow individual school districts the authority to use more property tax dollars for day-to-day operations, giving them more flexiblity.
Early voting for the election is still available today - Friday, Nov. 2 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and also on Saturday, Nov. 3 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Okmulgee County Election Board office.
Precints will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on election day.
