An Okmulgee man is facing a Thursday court date after he was arrested on several felony warrants, the most recent for the theft of a vehicle.
Mitchell Lee Webb, 35, is being held in the Okmulgee County Jail on an $85,000 felony warrant bond for Possession of a Stolen Vehicle, Knowingly Concealing Stolen Property, and a Motion to Revoke for Breaking and Entering Without Permission.
Webb’s latest brush with the law came after an investigation into a vehicle that was stolen on Oct. 7 from the Walmart parking lot.
Court documents state the Okmulgee Police were called to the store to take a report of the stolen Jeep Grand Cherokee, which the owner had placed in a handicap parking spot.
Store surveillance provided pictures and video of a female getting out of another vehicle and getting into the SUV and driving away.
The following day, court records state, Webb allegedly sold the vehicle to a scrap metal business where he is said to have signed a certificate of ownership and showed his Oklahoma identification during the transaction. He received $185 for the Jeep, records state.
A warrant was then issued for his arrest. The charge for Knowingly Concealing Stolen Property against Webb stems from a case in August where a resident reported his cell phone stolen.
Court document state during the investigation, it was discovered the stolen phone had been sold to a company that repurposes phones. Information from the company, in addition to photos from the phone’s webcam, and ID used at the time of the transaction, pointed to Webb as selling the stolen phone.
The suspect was taken into custody on Oct. 25 on the outstanding warrants.
He is also facing revocation in a 2013 drug case in Okmulgee County.
An initial appearance is set for Nov. 1 at 2 p.m. before Judge Pandee Ramirez.
