Mona’s Rose of Sharon Cafe in Henryetta was awarded People’s Choice Best Fried Fish in Okmulgee County this past week by the Okmulgee County Restaurant Review.

Other businesses included in the poll were: Ike & Emmas with 73 votes, Twill Hills Convenience Plaza with 41 votes, Boomerange with 38 votes, Elaine’s Country Kitchen (Foster’s) with 37 votes, Rick ’n Frans with 24 votes, Midway - Dewar with 11 votes, Deb’s Fillin’ Station Cafe with 8 votes, Shoney’s in Henryetta with 7 votes, Kirby’s with 7 votes, Harvey-Q’s with 7 votes, Classic Diner with 6 votes, Onefire Casino with 6 votes, Catfish at Tavern 56 with 5 votes, OSU Cowboy Cafe with 5 votes, Duck Creek Casino with 5 votes, Country Corner with 3 votes, Shaffer’s Drive In (Beggs) with 3 votes, Sam’s Southern Eatery with 2 votes, Rustler’s BBQ with one vote and Coleman’s with one vote.

For just over four years Mona’s has been open on the corner of Frisco and McLaughlin in Henryetta. They first opened their doors on July 3, 2014.

Several Henryetta residents have commented that Mona’s has the best (homemade) fried pies around as well as some of the best and most friendly service.

“If you manage to eat at Mona’s, don’t leave without trying the homemade fried pies,” Dave Crow said. “If you see them, a hand shake and a pat on the back are in order.”

Mona’s is open Tuesday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Guests can dine-in, carry out or if you live in Henryetta, delivery is available. Their phone number is 918-650-5333.

A small cafe ran by two best friends, Mona Tarkington and Kim Wilbourn, Mona’s features home-cooked comfort foods from scratch as well as delicious fried pies and other scrumptous menu items.
