A teen is dead, and two other children were shot in an incident early Thursday in Nuyaka, in western Okmulgee County.
The suspect, identified as Amy Leann Hall, 39, was taken into custody. She is believed to be the mother of the victims.
A press conference was held at 11 a.m. Thursday to give details of the case. Joining Sheriff Eddy Rice was Okmulgee Police Chief Joe Prentice of the District 25 Violent Crimes Task Force and District Attorney Carol Iski.
A 911 call was received at 6:30 a.m. regarding multiple gunshot victims that were located on South 130 Road in Okmulgee County. “Upon arriving at the scene, we had an 18-year-old male that was deceased at that time,” Sheriff Eddy Rice said. “We had two female teenagers – One that was in critical condition and one of them was stable. They were all transported to the hospital.” “We have no motive at this time,” Rice said. The sheriff pointed out that the Beggs School district was not involved in the case and asked that respect be given to allow the community to grieve. The victims were not identified as authorities were ensuring that all relatives were notified. News of the tragedy was relayed to Beggs High School students Thursday morning and grief counselors were dispatched to help at the school. "It's a terrible tragedy for the Beggs community," the superintendent said. Hall is being held in the Okmulgee County Jail on a complaint of First Degree Murder and two counts of Shooting with Intent to Kill. The investigation is continuing into the tragedy.
