Stacey Becker Lawson, 41, of Henryetta entered a plea of guilty to Theft, Embezzlement or Misapplication By Bank Employee, according to the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma in a press release on Oct. 18.
Punishable by no more than 30 years in prison, up to a $1 million fine - or both, Lawson was in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 656.
With an exact date unknown to the Grand Jury, the indictment alleged that from on or about 2015 until on or about June 13, 2018, Lawson, an employee of American Exchange Bank in Henryetta with intent to injure and defraud the bank, willfully misapplied, embezzled, abstracted and purloined more than $1,000 of moneys, funds, assets and securities entrusted to the custody and care of American Exchange Bank in Henryetta.
Initially charges arose from an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
U.S. Magistrate Judge in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma in Muskogee, the Honorable Kimberly E. West, accepted Lawson’s plea and ordered a completion of a pre-sentence investigation report.
