Oct. 27 Thlopthlocco Fall Festival Thlopthlocco Tribal Town will be having their Fall Festival/Halloween Bash at the Thlopthlocco Community Building, located next to the Golden Pony Casino, at 6 p.m.

Thlopthlocco Tribal Town will be having their Fall Festival/Halloween Bash at the Thlopthlocco Community Building, located next to the Golden Pony Casino, at 6 p.m. Sat., Oct. 27. Cruise Knight

The next Henryetta Cruise Knight is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. Sat. Oct. 27, on Main St. Bring the whole family out for a night of fun.

Dewar First Baptist Church will be having their Fall Festival Trunk or Treat at 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct.

Main Street Trick or Treat

Henryetta Chamber will be holding their Main Street Trick or Treat from 3:30 p.m. – 5 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31. Bring all you ghosts and goblins to gather their goodies from 3rd St. to 9th St.

Methodist Trunk or Treat

Henryetta First United Methodist Church will be having a Trunk or Treat from 5 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31.

Nazarene Trunk or Treat

Henryetta Church of the Nazarene will be having a Trunk or Treat beginning at 5 p.m. Wed., Oct. 31.

Scare on the Square

Okmulgee Main Street and the Okmulgee Chamber of Commerce are teaming up to sponsor this year’s Scare on the Square for trick or treaters. The annual downtown trick or treating will be on Wed., Oct. 31 from 4 p.m. – 6 p.m. The Okmulgee Chamber of Commerce will be hosting the costume contest in the Jim Newport Pocket Park at 5 p.m. All participating merchants/organizations need to register with Okmulgee Main Street in order to reserve a space and to also be included in all the event’s publicity. PTO’s Monster Bash

The Henryetta PTO will be holding a Halloween Monster Bash Fundraiser on Wed., Oct. 31, during school hours for kids grades P3 – 5th. Times for each grade will be announced at school.

Nov. 7

Dewar School Veteran’s Day Program

Dewar Public Schools will be having a Veteran’s Day program at 9:30 a.m. Wed., Nov. 7, at the Dewar First Baptist Church. All local veterans are encouraged to attend.

Nov. 8

Wilson School Veteran’s Day Program

Wilson Public Schools will be having a Veteran’s Day program at 1 p.m. Thurs., Nov. 8 at the new high school gym. Lunch will be served at 12 p.m. in the cafeteria prior to the program. All local veterans are encouraged to attend.

Dripping Springs Rendezvous

Okmulgee Dripping Springs Lake will host an event sponsored by the Indian Territory Rendezvous Club from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. Thurs. through Sat., Nov. 8-10. The event will include reenactors of men and women from the Fur Trade Era, archery, shooting, fire making, tomahawk and knife throwing, and more. For more information call 918-752-4135.

Veterans Events at Muscogee Nation

The Muscogee Nation will hold two events to commemorate the 100th anniversary of World War I. An open house will be held from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. Thurs., Nov. 8, at the Muscogee Veterans Affairs Service Building. There will be a commemorative showing of “The Lost Battalion” from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. Fri., Nov. 9, at the College of the Muscogee Nation.

Henryetta School Veteran’s Day Program

Henryetta Public Schools will be having aVeteran’s Day program at 9 a.m. Fri., Nov. 9, in the high school auditorium. All local veterans are encouraged to attend.

OCHS Baked Potato Sale

The Okmulgee County Homeless Shelter will hold a baked potato sale on Fri., Nov. 9 at the Episcopal Church, 213 N. Seminole. For tickets, contact the OCHS at 918-756-9098. Donation of $8 includes toppings of real bacon bits or BBQ, sour cream, cheddar cheese, butter and chives. Meal includes dessert and beverage.

OSUIT Veterans Day Parade

OSUIT will hold a Veterans Day Parade at 9:30 a.m. Fri., Nov. 9. Lineup begins at 9 a.m. at the Tower Drive parking lot between Wayne Miller Dr. and Kennedy Street. Entry deadline is Nov. 1.Aceremony will be held at 10:30 a.m. in Covelle Hall, followed by a reception at 11:30 a.m.

Christmas Basket Signups

Henryetta residents may sign up for the Lion’s Christmas Basket beginning at 9 a.m. on Mon. and Tues., Nov. 12 and 13, at the Henryetta Civic Center. Applicants must bring a current utility bill and a SoonercareorSocialSecuritycardforeachchildinthe household.

Ryal School Veteran’s Day Program

Ryal Public School will be having a Veteran’s Day program at 10 a.m. Tues., Nov. 13. Veterans will be served doughnuts, cookies, and coffee.All local veterans are encouraged to attend.

Nov. 14

DAV (DisabledAmerican Veterans)

Daniel Reed from DisabledAmericanVeterans will be at Muscogee Creek Nation Physical Rehabilitation Center, 900 E.Airport Road, Okmulgee, to assist area veterans and their families in applying for V.A. Benefits from 8 a.m. – 12 p.m. Wed., Nov. 14.

Dec. 8

Christmas Basket Gift Wrapping

The Henryetta Lions Club Christmas Basket gift wrapping will be at the First United Methodist Church at 5:30 p.m. Tues., Dec. 8. Volunteers are needed to help wrap gifts for the children of families who will receive baskets.

On-Going Area Events:

Computer Give Away by PC Memories, Inc.

PC Memories, Inc., a non-profit corporation, donates refurbished desktop computers to low income families with children. Also adults, seniors, and veterans who live in Okmulgee County. We are accepting applications until Oct. 30, 2018. Please visit our website www.okmulgeepc.com.

Al-anon Meetings

Al-anon Family Support Group will meet at 7 p.m., every Tues., at the First Christian Church located at 5th and Cummings.

Monthly VFW Meeting

The Henryetta VFW Post 539 will have a meeting the 1st Tues. of every month. All veterans are encouraged to attend. For more information contact Bill Goodner at 918-652-7103.

Weight Watchers

Weight Watchers meetings are Thurs evenings with the check in starting at 5:30 p.m. and meetings starting at 6 p.m. at the Tulledega Hills Baptist Church, 3000 W Main.

Lost and Found NA

A non-smoking NA meeting is now available four days each week at the First Christian Church, Okmulgee, on the corner of 8th and Seminole Streets. Meetings will be at 7 p.m. on Mon., Thurs., and Fri. and at 2 p.m. on Sat. Entry is around the back and down the stairs.

Hoffman Fellowship

Hoffman Fellowship is a smoke-free, alcohol-free, and family oriented event. The center is now open on Sat. at 5 p.m. For more information, call Ruby at 918-652-8440.

American Legion Post 85

Monthly meetings for members of the American Legion Post 85 are the first Monday of each month at 7 p.m. Membership is open to all eligible veterans. The American Legion is located at 601 E. Frisco Ave, Henryetta. For information call 918-652-9421.

OSUIT offers Free GED Classes

Oklahoma State University Institute of Technology is offering free GED classes through theirAdult Basic Education program. Classes are on Mon., Tues., and Wed. from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the Dewar Indian Community Center and Tues. and Thurs. from 5:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m., at the Henryetta High School Stem Building.
