Henryetta Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 539 Commander Bill Goodner reported that an older gentleman was falsely representing the VFW and VFW Auxiliary this past weekend at Marvin’s Place in Henryetta.
According to Goodner, the man was fallaciously posing as a member of the VFW trying to collect money for a fundraiser.
The Henryetta community should be aware that VFW Post 539 has no current fundraisers scheduled at this time. If fundraisers are scheduled, they will be announced in the Free-Lance.
“We will always let everyone know about any activities by posting them in the Free-Lance. Please remember, that our members will always have the VFW Post 539 hats on or some other type of ID that shows they are a member of Post 539,” Goodner said.
VFW Post 539 Commander and Vice Commander will notify Henryetta Mayor Jennifer Munholland to ensure legitimate causes.
“This is the same problem as last year when others tried to falsely impersonate VFW members. Post 539 wants to make sure the Henryetta and surrounding communities don’t donate to fraudulent schemes,” Goodner said.
If you believe that someone is falsely impersonating the Henryetta VFW, please contact the Henryetta Police Department at 918-652-3691.
